Preliminary Findings of Evaluation
POSITIVE FINDINGS
Students in the BSUSA group more than doubled their factual knowledge about bullying. Meanwhile, students who did not participate in the BSUSA program evidenced no change in their knowledge about bullying.
Students participating in the BSUSA program continue seeking assistance from teachers to deal with being bullied. Meanwhile, students who did not participate in the BSUSA program abandoned this coping strategy.
Students in the BSUSA program continue trying to avoid situations where they might be bullied while students who did not participate in the program abandoned this coping strategy.
According to students, the BSUSA program was successful in decreasing bullying behaviors. Students in participating in the BSUSA program reported a 19% decrease in bullying behaviors. Conversely, students who did not participate in the intervention reported an 11% increase in bullying behaviors.
Students in the BSUSA group report an 11% reduction in the percentage of students involved in bullying, whereas students in the control group report the percentage of students involved in bullying remains relatively stable.
